HistoryEdit

Cartoon Network originally began as a block on TV-6, launching in 1996.

In 2008, a representative office of Turner Broadcasting System Russia was opened in Moscow.[3]

On October 1, 2009, a localised feed was created for the channel - «Cartoon Network Russia and Southern-Eastern Europe» (CN RSEE), broadcasting in the CIS and South-Eastern Europe.[4]

On November 26, 2010, the channel was radically changed: changing the logo and graphic design.[5] A website was also launched - cartoonnetwork.ru.[6]

On March 2011, the channel switched to round-the-clock broadcasting,[7] the rebroadcasting of TCM Europe on the Cartoon Network frequency stopped.[8]

In 2014, the channel «Cartoon Network RSEE» was legally renamed «Cartoon Network Russia»,[9][10][11] However, the channel continues to broadcast in the same countries. The channel is programmed and managed in Munich,[12][13][14] previously managed by in London.

In 2016, the channel's distributor in the CIS became - «Media Alliance».[15] On 6 December 2016, «Cartoon Network Russia» switched to the 16:9 picture format. On December 19, 2016, the HD version of the channel was launched.[16][17]
